minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to submit
abstracts and consider membership.
AWARDS
Pre- and
Post- Doctoral Student Awards (up to $500):
Walter Nicolai Award for meritorious basic
biologic aging research by a graduate student or medical
student, and
the
Paul F. Glenn Award for meritorious
research in the area of biomedical gerontology by a
post-doctoral fellow
are presented at the annual
meeting.
Travel stipends will be awarded to a limited number of
students, post-docs* and student minorities. Persons
interested in applying for travel awards are required to
submit the application along with a CV and an abstract of
their current research. All awardees will also present their
work in either oral or poster format.
*a post-doc is someone with the terminal degree (typically
the PhD) who is studying and performing research temporarily
in a research environment to obtain additional credentials
necessary for a permanent job. Typically a post-doc should
be within eight years of receiving his or her degree (should
not be considered a tenure-track faculty) and would be
earning less than $60,000 annually.
