ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND AWARDS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MARCH 12, 2008

Accepted abstracts will be notified via email by the 1st of April.

Women, minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to submit abstracts and consider membership.

AWARDS

Pre- and Post- Doctoral Student Awards (up to $500):

  • Walter Nicolai Award for meritorious basic biologic aging research by a graduate student or medical student, and

  • the Paul F. Glenn Award for meritorious research in the area of biomedical gerontology by a post-doctoral fellow

are presented at the annual meeting.

Travel stipends will be awarded to a limited number of students, post-docs* and student minorities. Persons interested in applying for travel awards are required to submit the application along with a CV and an abstract of their current research. All awardees will also present their work in either oral or poster format.

*a post-doc is someone with the terminal degree (typically the PhD) who is studying and performing research temporarily in a research environment to obtain additional credentials necessary for a permanent job.  Typically a post-doc should be within eight years of receiving his or her degree (should not be considered a tenure-track faculty) and would be earning less than $60,000 annually.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Participants who wish to make an oral or a poster presentation at this meeting must submit an abstract which will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.  Results of this review will be communicated via email, to each applicant.  Please note that ONLY THE ABSTRACTS OF THE REGISTERED PRESENTERS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM (online and in print) - no exceptions will be made. 

LANGUAGE: 

All abstracts should be written in English.

NUMBER OF ABSTRACTS:  There is no limit to the number of abstracts each author may submit.
TITLE: 

Make sure your abstract has a title.

AUTHORS: 

List authors' names and designate speaker/presenter with asterisk (*) (first initial, last name); also, list location where research was conducted.

ABSTRACT BODY: 

 

Type entire abstract in single space, lower case--except for single line spaces between title, author's location and the text of the abstract. Text should be a single paragraph starting with a 5-space indentation and should be limited to 300 words or less. Abbreviations may be used only after first defining them (list term in full when first mentioned, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses). Minimum letter size: 12 point font size.
