The American Aging Association (AGE) needs your support. Your dues and contributions allow us to continue promoting biomedical research in the quest for a longer, healthier life. Help keep alive the exchange of information between physicians, health professionals and scientists. Help foster public awareness of the progress being made in aging research and the potential benefits to all people.  We value your ideas and encourage participation on our committees and in fundraising activities. Membership Categories

Scientific Members:  Such members will have college degree(s), or equivalent training, in one or more areas related to biomedical gerontology, such as chemistry, biology or medicine.  An individual may become a scientific member of the American Aging Association upon submission of an application and payment of dues.  The application will be reviewed by the Credentials Committee or their delegate(s); membership will be granted if it is deemed the applicant will be an asset to the organization.  They shall have the right to vote and hold office.

Major benefits include online subscription to the Journal of the American Aging Association, AGE News and discount on annual meeting.

Lay Members:  Requirements are the same as for Scientific Members except that Lay Members lack training in areas related to biomedical gerontology.  They shall have the right to vote and to hold all offices except those of President and President-Elect.

Major benefits include subscription to AGE News and discount on annual conference.  For an additional fee ($30 per year), Lay members can have full text access to all Journal of American Aging Association's articles published within the subscription year.

Post Doctoral Student Members:  A post-doctoral student may become a post-doctoral student member of the American Aging Association upon submission of an application with sponsorship by a faculty advisor and payment of dues.  Advancement to regular membership will require review by the Credentials Committee.  They shall not have the right to vote or to hold office.

Major benefits include subscription to AGE News and discount on annual conference.  For an additional fee ($30 per year), Post Doctoral Student members can have full text access to all Journal of American Aging Association's articles published within the subscription year.

Student Members:  A student may become a student member of the American Aging Association upon submission of an application with sponsorship by a faculty advisor and payment of dues.  Advancement to regular membership will require review by the Credentials Committee.  They shall not have the right to vote or to hold office.

Fellows:  An individual may become a Fellow by application or invitation of the Fellowship Committee; in either case they should submit their CV and sponsoring letters from Fellows.  They shall have the right to vote and hold office.  They shall pay dues.  Requirements:  Major contributions to biomedical aging research as recognized by the Fellowship Review Committee.  This will usually consist of at least co-authorship of five or more publications in peer reviewed journals describing original investigations relevant to biomedical aging research with lead authorship on at least one paper.  Approved Fellowship applications will be voted on at the annual meeting of the Board.

Trustee:  Members, either lay or scientific, who have been appointed by the Board to serve as advisors to them.  Their term is for five years.  They may be reappointed again.  They shall pay dues.  They have the right to vote with the general membership.  They can stand for an office; if elected, their appointment as trustee is voided.

Journal of the American Aging Association Information

• The Journal is printed quarterly.

• Print Journal subscriptions require an additional subscription fee.

The journal publishes 4 issues per year and is available online to current AGE scientific members.  Lay members and student members can purchase online subscriptions for $30 per year.  The printed version of the journal is available to all members for an additional $50 per year.
