Alternatives Research & Development Foundation Offers Funding for Non-Animal Biomedical Research Methods

Deadline: April 30, 2007

The mission of the Alternatives Research & Development Foundation ( http://www.ardf-online.org/ ) is to fund and promote the development, validation, and adoption of non-animal methods in biomedical research, product testing, and education.

Proposals are judged primarily on the basis of the extent to which the project will significantly reduce or replace laboratory animals, and scientific merit and feasibility.

Grants from the foundation are made only to individuals affiliated with a nonprofit tax-exempt institution, organization, or foreign equivalent.

Preferential consideration will be given to proposals that utilize human rather than non-human vertebrate tissue, and to proposals that are from individuals associated with U.S. institutions or organizations.
